Cameron Pass

An over flowing toilet, ripped pants, broken binding, lost ice axe, and powder.

I was at the library studying with no intention of skiing the next day. I took a break and was dicking around on Google Earth and found these cool looking lines on the west side of the popular Nokhu Crags. After some quick researching I found info on people skiing them and happened to find some pictures of some guys riding them just a few days ago in waste deep powder. I think the name people coin this line is Rock for Brains, for it’s similarity to Shit for Brains? It was 10:30pm and I called my buddy Jamie and we said fuck it and decided to leave at 4am and head up to Cameron Pass. The good student that I am could miss a day of class here and there right?

Jamie’s buddy Paul joined us and we were up nice and early and began the 3 hour drive up to Cameron Pass… Funny story about Paul- a few weeks prior I was at the bar at A-basin and saw some guys walk in with beacons on. I asked what they were doing and they told me they had just skied Shit For Brains, turns out one of those guys was Paul.

Anyways, we stopped at a gas station in Fort Collins and I used the bathroom to take a piss. As I was washing my hands I noticed water running by my feet and the whole toilet was spewing over. Instinctively,  I jolted out of there and grabbed Jamie and Paul. Maybe I should have let the cashier know? Oh well.

It was just under 2 miles to the bottom of our line, tucked into those rock spires pictured below.

The latter strap on my binding snapped so I rigged up something out of zip ties.

We balanced a camera on my ice axe to take this photo, and then stupidly I forgot to grab my ice axe. Hope it has a good home.
